{"id":419,"date":"2022-03-08T10:54:30","date_gmt":"2022-03-08T16:54:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rocksolidapologia.com\/?p=419"},"modified":"2022-03-08T10:54:30","modified_gmt":"2022-03-08T16:54:30","slug":"edwards-in-the-hands-of-angry-sinners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rocksolidapologia.com\/?p=419","title":{"rendered":"Edwards in the Hands of Angry Sinners"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Satura Apologia Today<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los Angeles, CA \u2013 Reports are coming in as Jonathan Edwards steps away from the pulpit of one of the largest Megachurches in California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jonathan Edwards, the famed revivalist preacher from the eighteenth century has returned to the stage today to re preach his greatest hit, \u201cSinners in the Hands of an Angry God.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When confronted about preaching a sermon that he had already preached, Edwards replied, \u201cWhy can\u2019t I? All those new-fangled preachers just take sermons they find on the internet. Those sermons have probably been preached a fair many times.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The reports say Edward\u2019s sermon started at 10:00 AM sharp. Traditionally, the sermon ends at 10:30 AM, today, the sermon lasted until 11:30 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Congregants were surprised to see how short and stooped Edwards was. \u201cWe thought he was a giant of man.\u201d One congregant said. \u201cAt least that was what we were told in seminary.\u201d The man scratched his head. \u201cMind, we may have forgotten everything we learned in seminary about Jonathan Edwards.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThou art sinners!\u201d Edwards preached from the pulpit. (Some congregants were wondering what a pulpit was) \u201cThou art sinners in the hands of an angry God. There is nothing that keeps wicked men at any one moment, out of hell, but the pleasure of GOD.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Edwards never looked up from the pulpit until the sermon was done. When he did, the audience was crying. This was nothing new to Edwards. The last time he preached this sermon, in the 18<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;century, he looked up and people were crying in repentance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now in the 21<sup>st<\/sup>&nbsp;century, folks were crying tears of anger. \u201cHow dare he!\u201d One furious man said. \u201cHow dare he profane our God by calling him angry. I always understood God as my cosmic teddy bear.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI thought we were a seeker friendly church,\u201d another man said. \u201cThat was the most seeker unfriendly message I have ever heard.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Edwards had to be escorted out to avoid being driven out with whips.
