Beyond the Satire Note: Joseph Smith was able to interpret the stone tablets after putting his head in a hat. Muhammad couldn’t read.

Manchester, New York – After sticking his head in a hat didn’t work, LDS prophet Joseph Smith turned to outside help to read the stone tablets given to him by the angel Moroni.

Fortunately for Smith, a totally literate and one hundred percent honest man just happened to be meandering around the neighborhood. The Islamic prophet Muhammad said he would be more than happy to help Joseph Smith out.

“Hmm…” Muhammad said, scratching his head and staring at the engravings for a long time. “It looks like your stone tablets here say there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet.” Muhammad nodded to himself. “Sounds about right.”

Unfortunately for Joseph Smith, the angel Moroni could not be reached for comment.
