Salt Lake City – Church goers at the local Baptist Church’s yearly fall festival were confused by the unexpected appearance of LDS prophet Joseph Smith. “Trick or treat!” Joseph Smith declared, upon ringing the doorbell and surprising all the costumed churchgoers.

“He looked kind of like a wolf dressed in sheep’s clothing.” The Pastor said, when describing Smith’s costume later on to a friend.

The pastor proceeded to ask Smith what he was dressed as. “Oh, just one of the flock.” Smith said airily.

“You are not dressed as a false prophet, are you friend?” The Pastor clarified, gesturing to the wolf’s garb underneath the sheep’s clothing.

“No, no, no!” Smith assured. “I am dressed as a sheep.” Joseph Smith said, while grinning wolfishly.

At publishing time, Joseph Smith had invited the congregation to come listen to his teachings. Smith promised all who said they would come, that he would wear his costume.
