Carthage Illinois – In a disappointing decision for many of the hard-core 19th century LDS polygamists, Joseph Smith announced that a man may have no more wives than he has Gods.
“It is not right that man marries as many women as there be Gods.” Joseph Smith said. “Brigham Young is a shining role model to us all.” Smith continued. “He only married fifty-six women. This leaves him at a least a couple million short of the number of Gods there are.”
When asked how many Gods there are, Brigham Young said there are more than can be counted.
At the time of this article’s publication, many polygamists were looking at Islam as a feasible alternative. Unfortunately, Islam only allows nine wives.
