The Vatican – According to sources close to the Pope, his eminence made a call recently to LDS prophet Joseph Smith. The Pope allegedly called Smith to issue an apology for making offensive statements about polygamous marriages.

The offensive comments came out of a closed-door discussion with Bishops that somehow leaked out in which Francis suggested that polygamous marriage was unbiblical. “My apologies.” The Pope told Smith over the phone. “You are right. Solomon did indeed have seven hundred wives.”

The Vatican also released a clarifying statement. “The Pope never intended to offend or express himself in anti-polygamous terms. The very last thing his eminence would want to do is offend the esteemed founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.”

The Vatican did not reply to our request for comment.
